About Nalikule

Nalikule College of Education (NCE) is an insititution of higher education under Ministry of Education. It offers bachelor degrees in education to Malawian citizens. The Institution was constructed by the Government of Malawi with technical support from the Government of Japan under Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).

NCE was set up primarily to produce graduate secondary school teachers; build capacity of serving teachers through continuous professional development; expand access to higher education through open distance and e-learning; research and consultancy service.

The acute shortage of qualified teachers particularly for sciences in most secondary schools in Malawi, led to Governments’ deliberate decision to earmark NCE for pure sciences as one way of increasing the number of qualified teachers for science and mathematics.

The college started its operations in January, 2017 and has a student capacity of 768. The institution was purposefully designed to be fully disability accessible and to accommodate equal numbers of male and female students.

Aim and Objectives

To provide quality education programme that offers each to student the opportunity to develop intellectually, physically and socially.

To help students strive for intellectual excellence by maintaining well qualified staff who can properly guide the students in the pursuit of knowledge, assisting the student develop intellectual curiosity, and desire to reach the highest level of professionalism.

To prepare students to become useful members of society by promoting understanding tolerance and acceptance of persons of various background
